Joe Spink – Drums

Current Drummer for “Flannel”, a Tribute to the Grunge Era. I have been playing drums for some 20 plus years. I started practicing on a Vintage 70′s Slingerland Chrome Wrapped Maple Kit. I love the warm tones of a Maple Kit. I also play DW Collectors Series (Maple), and Pearl Sessions Customs (Maple). I use DW Hardware,  Zildjian A Custom Cymbals, and Remo plus Evans Heads.

I am a self taught drummer with heavy influences from the jazz fusion era of the 70′s: Steve Smith, Peter Erskine, Alex Acuna, & Tony Williams. Fast forward to the modern Jazz Drummer: Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Joel Rosenblatt, & Benny Greb. Of course the portfolio would not be complete without the Rock influences: Neal Peart, John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, and the list could go on and on. Those artist are some of the colors of my musical approach which helped in creating my own Voice.

“Flannel” is an exciting flash back to the age of Grunge (90′s y’all), when Flannel Shirts ruled along with a good pair of boots. The attitude of the music was rebellious and fresh, a tasty new delight for your musical palette. GRUNGE IS NOT DEAD! It lives vicariously through the members of “Flannel”, and we hope to represent our lost brothers of other Mothers…ROCK ON!
